Join former Rangeley Public Library director Marty Gagnon, as he returns to Rangeley to discuss fake news. This brief session will provide participants with tips to critically evaluate and analyze both digital, television, and print media resources. Through videos and slides, the session will examine the history of misinformation and the psychology of how it spreads. The role of technology in the creation and spread of "fake news" along with changes in the delivery of news will also be discussed. The program will conclude with helpful resources to fact check news stories and images.
Gagnon, a graduate of La Salle University, has been a newspaper journalist in Maine and New Hampshire, and currently is Head of Adult Services at Auburn Public Library.
