Valentine’s Day weekend on Sunday, February 17 at 4:00 pm at Church of the Good Shepherd on Main Street in Rangeley there will be a free one-hour program, singing some of the great standards from the golden age of American song – the 1930s through the 1950s. Composers like George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and Richard Rodgers are among the musicians who crafted memorable tunes like “Love is Here to Stay,” “Let’s Do It,” “Cheek to Cheek,” and “People Will Say We’re in Love.” Led by Good Shepherd’s Director of Music, Robert Ludwig, the program will be similar to the popular Christmas Carol Sing held in December – including some interesting stories about songs, composers and poets, as well as giving everyone present a chance to choose favorites for all to sing from lyric sheets.
