Pam Matthews, author of the book *Cornelia "Fly Rod" Crosby, Champion of
Maine, *will speak about this famous woman who fished "the Rangeleys".
Pam lives in Phillips, the birthplace and home of "Fly Rod", and the
newspaper for which she wrote, the *Phillips Phonograph*. Cornelia Crosby
broke barriers for women in the late 1800's: as an angler, a hunter, a
journalist, a marketer of the Maine outdoors, an early conservationist, and
the holder of the first Maine Guide badge.
Pam will come dressed as "Fly Rod", and will have books available for sale
at a signing after her presentation. Her book is illustrated by Heidi
Kendrick of Portland, and was entirely formatted and printed in Maine.
Although ostensibly for children, with colorful illustrations, the story is
one that can be read and enjoyed by all ages. Cost for the book, including
tax, is $20.
