| The
Rangeley area offers some great Mountain Biking. The terrain
is mountainous and the views are fantastic.
You'll experience single and double track, gravel
roads, logging roads and wilderness riding. You'll find (and
go through) streams, ponds, deep forests, and open fields
and see wildlife in their natural habitat.

The Railroad Bike Loop Trail starts on
Depot Street close to the center of Rangeley
Village. It's
about 12 miles long, has a good mixture of
terrain, and offers some great views of Rangeley
Lake and the mountains.
The
Rangeley Lakes Trails Center located at 524
Saddleback Mountain Road offers seven miles of
trails for mountain biking.
In difficulty rating, 2
miles are easy (to steel bridge and back along
Tote Road). The remainder is suggested for
advanced mountain bikers.
Many of the area's woods roads provide
excellent riding.
Before embarking on a ride, there are some
basic rules one should follow. Preplan your trip;
let someone know where you are riding and carry a
map. Don't
bike alone and stay in sight of each other on the
trail. Have your bike checked out (lubricated,
adjusted) before starting. At least one person in
your party should carry a tool kit including:
extra tubes, mini pump, tire levers, multi-tool,
chain tool, extra chain link, tube patch kit, and
spoke replacement. In addition, a compact first
aid kit is handy to have along.
The Seasonal Cycles Bike Shop sponsors
weekly rides. Check with them for times and locations.
